We are planning an exciting meeting, with an emphasis on collaborating with active-duty SP Officers in the area as well as planned activities and adventures that showcase the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
On Tuesday we will be traveling to Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) for our general membership meeting /update from the Corps in the morning at the American Lake Conference Center.
After lunch we will tour two state of the art JBLM active duty programs:
The 17th Fires Performance Center which is the centralized training center for the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) team, made up of OTs, PTs, RDs, technicians, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning coaches focusing on optimizing health and performance of the Soldiers of their unit. H2F is an enterprise-wide readiness system that combines all aspects of physical and non-physical human performance optimization under a single governance structure to enable commanders to improve Soldier health and fitness. The Intrepid Spirit Center, specializing in the treatment of service members with traumatic brain injuries and related conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain. In addition to more traditional forms of care such as primary care, behavioral health and neurology, the center offers acupuncture, chiropractic care, mindfulness-based practice and yoga. Tuesday evening we meet for an evening mixer with active-duty SPs at the 7 Seas Brewery in downtown Tacoma. Enjoy a casual dinner and local microbrews, ciders, and wine. (https://www.7seasbrewing.com/taprooms/)
Wednesday, Jun 26th, is our open day to enjoy the local Tacoma area. For those interested we will have options for a half-day golf tournament or a visit to the beautiful Point Ruston Harbor for bike (Surrey or 2-wheel) or walk along the scenic Waterfront.
In the afternoon we have a scheduled an hour tour of the premier one-of-a-kind Tacoma Museum of Glass (https://www.museumofglass.org/), then the evening Awards Dinner at the adjacent Washington State History Museum, including a docent lead tour.
Then Thursday morning, breakfast at the hotel and travel home or further in the Pacific Northwest.
